Giorgio de Chirico, De la Metafisica à la Neo Metafisica

IWATE Prefectoral Museum / HAMAMATSU City Museum / PANASONIC Shiodome
An exhibition from the collections of the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris, presented at the IWATE Prefectural Museum from 21 June to 22 August 2014, at Hamamatsu City Museum from 30 August to 19 October 2014, and at the Panasonic Shiodome Museum Rouault Gallery, Tokyo from 25 October to 26 December 2014.

For the first time in Japan, the exhibition Giorgio de Chirico: De la Metafisica à la Neo Metafisica brought together more than one hundred works by this major twentieth-century artist (paintings, sculptures and drawings). The Musée d’Art Moderne’s Giorgio de Chirico collection, the most important collection of his work outside Italy, is at the heart of this event. The exhibition is drawn from the exceptional group of works, dated from the 1940s to 1975, from the bequest of Isa de Chirico, which entered the museum’s collection in 2011 thanks to the Fondazione Giorgio e Isa de Chirico in Rome. For the exhibition in Japan, numerous works loaned by Italian and Japanese museums complemented the collection.
